BMW has introduced the all-new X4 xDrive M40i to the Indian market, offering a high-performance coupe-SUV at a price of ₹96.20 lakh. This exceptional vehicle will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and is available in a single trim with limited units for sale.
Stunning Paint Choices
The BMW X4 M40i offers a choice of two metallic colours – Black Sapphire and Brooklyn Grey. It retains its distinctive sloping rear roofline, reminiscent of the X3 SUV on which it is based. To enhance its aesthetic appeal, the coupe features a glossy matte black finish on various elements, including the kidney grille, grille surround, exhaust pipe, window surround, and roof rails.
Impressive Wheels and Tires
Equipped with 20-inch wheels, the X4 M40i boasts a staggered tire setup with 245/45-R20 tires at the front and wider 275/40-R20 tires at the rear. These tires come with run-flat technology for added safety and convenience. The double-spoke alloy wheels are elegantly finished in black, while the brake pads feature striking red callipers.
Innovative 48V Mild-Hybrid System for BMW X4 M40i
Under the hood, the BMW X4 M40i houses a robust 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine generating 360 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. This power is distributed to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The vehicle features an advanced 48V mild-hybrid system, enhancing its efficiency and performance. BMW claims that the X4 M40i can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, with an impressive top speed of 250 km/h.
Luxurious Interior and Cutting-edge Features
Inside the X4 M40i, you’ll find a sophisticated interior adorned with BMW’s Vernasca Leather dashboard, available in either black or tarcora red, complemented by carbon-fibre trim pieces. The vehicle comes equipped with the M package, offering unique pedals, a leather steering wheel, and a specialized M-specific display on the digital information cluster.
Among the notable features, the X4 M40i includes a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, 3-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, park assist, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and much more, ensuring a luxurious and convenient driving experience.
Competition and Affordability
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 stands as a direct competitor to the BMW X4 M40i, but it’s not currently available for sale in India. However, it recently underwent a model update globally, and there is potential for it to arrive in the Indian market in the near future.
Interestingly, BMW also offers the X3 SUV in the M40i variant, priced at Rs 87.7 lakh. This not only offers a more budget-friendly option, with savings of Rs 8.5 lakh but also provides additional headroom and boot space for those seeking practicality alongside performance.
